版本与发行

版本与发行,其实就是专辑本质与表象的关系。本文旨在厘清两者的关系。

定义

首先,我们要弄了解两者的定义。

  • 版本(Edition):专辑碟片中存储的数据存在实质性不同者,是为不同的版本,但此概念非由唱片行业正式提出,而是我们出于区分抓轨数据的需要而下了这样一个定义。区分因素:
    • 目录表(Table of contents,简称 ToC)
    • 峰值电平(Peak level)
    • 音轨前间隙长度(Pre-gap length)
    • 音频数据的其他方面(不如上面几项那么直观可见)
  • 发行(Release):专辑内容上、外观上、发行时间上的任何不同,都被视为不同的发行。比如两个人聊天,其中一人说:「泰勒出新专辑了你知道吗?叫做 Lover。」此时,我们所谓的「专辑」,实际所指是这么一整个「发行组(Release group)」,而「发行」实是「发行组」下属的子集。另外,与英文一样,「发行」既可以作为名词,也可以作为动词,如:某歌手发行了一张专辑,这里的「发行」就作为动词使用了。因此,实际使用中,其词性应根据上下文判断。区分因素:
    • 发行年(Release Year)
    • 唱片厂牌(Record label)
    • 目录编号(CataLogue number)
    • 发行地区(如日版、大陆引进版等)
    • 特殊类型(初回限定版、豪华版、周年纪念版等)

所以我们不难发现,「版本」取决于专辑的实际内容,而「发行」则取决于专辑的外在形式,这一点请务必牢记。下面介绍版本的各区分因素。

版本

目录表

通俗一点说,目录表决定了音轨在碟子里边怎么摆放。一个音轨从哪开始到哪结束,目录表都标得清清楚楚,请看:

需要留意的是,「起始」和「长度」下面的时间点单位有些特殊,以第三轨的 7:31.32 为例,7 是分,31 是秒,32 是扇区号。所以你可以发现,所有的目录表里边的时间点,秒后面都没有超过 75 的,这就要提到 CD 的数据层级了。下面的换算关系不考虑纠错编码占用的空间,详情请见 本文

  • 1 秒 = 75 扇区(Sector,也有的地方称 Block,块)
  • 1 扇区 = 98 帧(Frame)
  • 1 帧 = 6 采样(Sample)
  • 1 采样 = 4 字节 = 2 字节左声道 + 2 字节右声道
  • 2 字节 = 16 位——即 16 bit 位深度

所以,如果你看到两张 CD 的目录表一模一样,你几乎可以肯定,它俩属于同一版本,尽管可能属于不同的发行。

峰值电平

EAC 记录峰值电平用百分数,而 XLD 用小数,两者是等效的。100% 就是 CD 规格能够记录的最大响度,而 Log 中记录的数值,是单个音轨最大(峰值)响度占记录能力上限的百分比。

你可能会问,如果电平超过 100% 会怎样。你可以想象一下一个山头,把顶上水平切掉,这就是结果,用术语讲,叫「削波失真」,听起来是不美妙的。如果母带制作的时候响度拉过头,就会造成这种结果。

所以,如果你看到两张 CD 各音轨的峰值电平存在一一对应相等的关系,你几乎可以肯定,它俩属于同一版本,尽管可能属于不同的发行。

音轨前间隙长度

音轨在 CD 中一般这样摆:间隙 1 - 音轨 1 - 间隙 2 - 音轨 2 - …… - 间隙 x - 音轨 x

所以你会发现,对于某一个音轨,它是先间隙,再音频的。但我们实际抓轨的时候,会处理成 音轨 1 - 间隙 2音轨 2 - 间隙 3,这就是 EAC 所谓的「追加间隙到上一轨」。这样做的好处在于,既不影响聆听,又保证了数据的完整,因为间隙并非一定是绝对的静音,有些玩花活的艺术家还会在间隙里藏歌呢!

所以,如果你看到两张 CD 各音轨的间隙长度存在一一对应相等的关系,你几乎可以肯定,它俩属于同一版本,尽管可能属于不同的发行。

偷懒的判定方法

你可能会说,每次都要三方面作比较,太累了!

CTDB 插件是我们的好帮手,注意看 CTDB TOCID: 7rFgrW3KRGPuOcYh645TJ9qffFs- 这一行,7rFgrW3KRGPuOcYh645TJ9qffFs 就是这张 CD 的唯一编号,你可以理解成「指纹」,但凡音频内容实质性相同,这个编号就是一模一样的。

当然,编号不同但差距小到可以忽略的情况也是存在的,但你掌握上面这个方法,一般已经够用了。

版本与发行的关系

上面我们已经论述了如何区分版本,下面讲述两者之间的关系。读了上文的你可能会产生「哦,发行应该比版本多,也就是一个版本可能可以以多种发行的形式存在」这样的想法。这个想法对,但是只对了一半。首先举两个能佐证一版本对应多发行的例子。

一版本对应多发行

例子一:万能青年旅店 - 万能青年旅店

例子二:RADWIMPS - 君の名は。

经过我控制变量的研究,大陆引进版的音频数据比之日本原版,整体推后了 646 个采样(使用 Au 观察所得),除此之外没有任何差别,售价就差了很多了,日版的售价是 2700 日元(不含税),大约相当于 162 元人民币,引进版的售价仅 55 元人民币(不计运费),但是除了音频之外,还有一些不同之处。日版的小册子所采用的纸张不同于我们常见的铜版纸,其表面不那么光滑,对光的反射能力也就更弱,对于阅读是有显而易见的好处的,从内容上看,引进版与日版完全相同。日版的侧标背面有字而引进版无,两者的正面排版,日版的排版更疏朗、更舒服一些。此外,就是侧脊上的目录编号,日版是 UPCH-20423,引进版就去掉了两个侧脊上的目录编号,但小册子封底的目录编号可能是由于疏忽没有去掉。

再谈两者 Log 所揭示的一些东西,CTDB 将两者视为完全等同的专辑,而 ARDB 认为它们不同,考虑到两者的差别仅存在于 646 个采样的偏移,这也符合我们对两个数据库的一贯认知,即 CTDB 对偏移值「不敏感」,而 ARDB 反之。
