光驱偏移值对抓轨的实际影响

如果你是一个有一定经验的 CD 抓轨玩家,你一定会注意到「偏移值」这个东西。那么,它是如何影响我们的抓轨结果的呢?本文将为你揭开这个秘密。

缘起

事情的起因是这张专辑:少女时代 - Genie (소원을 말해봐)

我的好朋友 A 抓得一份目录号为 SMCD-186 的发行,另一位朋友 B 发布的另一份发行可以在 这里(提取码:d09f)下载到。按照惯例,核对两份 Log 中的 ToC(相同)、峰值电平(相同)、音轨 CRC 等信息,前 1~5 轨都一模一样,但是最后一轨第 6 轨,CRC 有不同了。

CRC 不同意味着实际的音频数据有出入,于是我下载了 B 那份,因为和 A 连接性差,直接向他要来了第六轨,丢进 fb2k 看看 MD5,确实不同,那么不同在哪?都转成 WAV,扔到 EAC 的 WAV 比较工具里看看,得到了如下结果:

真的不同,那看看 ARDB 和 CTDB 怎么说,我要来了整份专辑,分别丢进 CUETools 检测,检测结果如下:

溯因

引人深省!为什么音频内容有实质性差异,还能拥有相同的 ARDB 和 CTDB TOCID?这意味着在两个数据库眼中,它们是完全相同的,而且都被视为准确地抓取了(Accurately ripped)。我要弄清这个问题。于是,我复习了既有知识,阅读到:

校验码算法会忽略第一个音轨开头的 2939 个采样(不到 5 块,略大于 0.013 秒的音频),也会忽略最后一个音轨末尾的 2940 个采样(正好 5 块)。截至 2011 年底,数据库中最大的光驱偏移值仅 1776 个采样,因此,经过偏移值校正的驱动器「踰读」到音频数据的边界之外时,通常不会影响校验码。但是,如果踰读了超过 2940 个采样,则该算法将假定数据已用数字静音填充(都是零)。如果你的驱动器无法踰读数据,且 DAE 软件未使用静音填充丢失的偏移采样,则你抓轨的校验码不太可能被提交到 AccurateRip 数据库或是与其中的记录比较。

所以能匹配上是因为忽略了部分采样(这部分采样又能将差异采样涵盖掉),而其余的采样则完全相同,难怪可以拥有一致的数据库 ID。

探究

但我还想继续探究差异的细节。两者的差异集中在末尾的 0.015 秒这个区间内,我先看看有何不同。Au,启动!

我查看了两边第 6 轨末尾 0.186 秒的区间,结果如下:

确实不同,再看看波形(注意,这里我放大了波形,看右边的量尺。如不放大,是看不出这里存在音频内容的,当然,它们已经微不可闻了):

可以看到 B 这份末尾明显少了一些内容,这些内容有多长?就是 EAC 的 WAV 比较工具指示的 0.015 秒,每秒 44100 采样,则 0.015 秒对应 661.5 采样,由于不会出现半个采样,存在少许误差,可以认为是 661 采样。我们再来看 Log:

B 那份 Log 中偏移值是 667,A 这份则是 6,661 = 667 - 6。显然,这部分差异和两个不同光驱的偏移值有所关联。考虑到两份 Log 都没有开「通读到 Lead-In 和 Lead-Out」,意味着光驱跑进 Lead-Out 区域的时候就读不出东西来了,只能填充空采样,两者差了 661 采样,说明偏移 667 的光驱填充了 667 个空采样,偏移 6 的光驱填充了 6 个。

那么,**「不同光驱按正确设置抓同一张碟所得数据完全相同」**这句话就有一个限定条件了,那就是「误差范围内」。如果单论「逐位精确」,两者确实不同,但这个差异,是人完全察觉不了的,因为根据哈斯效应,两个声音要相差 0.035 秒以上才能有所感知,它相当于 1543 采样,已经是个很罕见的大值,更别说没有人会把两个偏移值不同的光驱抓轨放在一起比对着听,这就更难察觉差异了。但由此,也不妨得出一个结论,如果光驱本身没有「踰读(overread)」能力,EAC 中也没有开启此功能,则正偏移值越大,就有损失越多尾部采样的风险。

实验

上述的结论是我根据观察到的现象所做的合理猜测,下面就应当采用控制变量的实验来验证这个猜想。实验所采用的素材如下:

  • 光驱:BENQ CDRW 52X32(具有踰读能力,偏移值 738);
  • CD:doriko - 花束 ~the best of doriko feat. 初音ミク~
  • 设置:仅「驱动器选项…」→「偏移/速度」→「通读到 Lead-in 和 Lead-out」设置有变化,其余设置、操作流程完全一致。

请留意纵坐标,它被我放大了很多,本来上下两端默认的值是 0(也就是最响亮的满刻度),现在只有 -72,而音频更是低于满刻度值 78 dB 左右,人耳舒适上限为 70 dB,80 dB 是交通繁忙的闹市噪声水平。也就是说,虽然这里存在音频数据,但从响度来说,是可以将之视为静音的。

实验结果验证了我的假设:若不开踰读,或光驱不支持踰读,则正偏移值越大,丢失的尾部采样越多。除非音轨末尾这部分时间范围内本就是无须在意的纯静音。在尾部区间为毫无波动的纯静音条件下,是否开启踰读将无差别,见:
